Might I just mention that the milk I “got” is milk I got myself…from my own goat!
Yes, we now have little Nigerian Dwarf goats here at the farm. Two females and two babies. And with babies, comes milk! My farm-hand Marika knows these goats really well, since they came from her mom’s farm and she also knows how to milk them. So yesterday we set up the milk stand and she showed me how to do it. It was surprisingly hard to do because their teats are so small and I don’t have the hang of it yet.
Because these goats are so small, there was not a lot of milk to be had. At some point, when I have the correct set up with all of the “accoutrement” that is needed for sterilization, I may be able to drink the milk, or make it into the smallest bite of cheese you have ever seen.
Until then, the mom will stay with her babies and I will only milk her if I want to.
I still can’t get over their cuteness!
